Kayaking In and Around Stonington

The Beginners:
Rent a tandem or single kayak for a couple of hours. We have a special rate with King Cove Marina that includes a 20 minute orientation. Situated on beautiful, calm Wequetequock Cove, you couldn’t handpick a friendlier spot in which to learn to kayak.

Intermediate and Advanced:
Rent a kayak at Wequetequock Cove and explore the shoreline of Barn Island Wildlife Management Area.


BYOK- Bring Your Own Kayak
If you are bringing your own kayak, feel free to enter Stonington harbor at our floating docks. From the Inn you can cruise the harbor or if you are very comfortable, you could make your way out to Sandy Point. Sandy Point is an island located between Stonington Point and Napatree Point in Rhode Island. Barn Island Wildlife Management Area has a boat launch and parking area as does Bluff Point State Park in Groton, CT. We can assist you in finding a spot to enter the Mystic River if you want to paddle along the Seaport and historic river homes. There are many launching areas in the surrounding parks such as Green Falls, Chapman and Hopeville Pond.
